This is a place for me to post what ever comes to my mind. Often times there will be nothing of interest here to anybody. Other times, it will be chocked full of inciteful goodness.

Rule #2
Just because you have the title manager does not mean that people automatically respect you, you still have to earn that respect, especially from those that have that position as their superior.
While it is important to do things that earn the respect of your subordinates it is equally important for your subordinates to show the respect that is inherently earned by having the position of their manager.
I've managed staffs from one to over forty. I've never had an issue getting respect from my employees and I've never gone out of my way to do things to specifically earn it. Doing my job as a good manager naturally earned that respect.
You'll do just fine. Treat them like professionals, don't expect them do things you wouldn't do, and most importantly do your job to the best of your abilities and they'll respect you just fine. More importantly you'll be a damn good manager.
