Portugal looked "good enough" yesterday and Angola didn't.
However, this morning I heard something weird and for the first time. The US is running a 4-5-1. WTF? 1 forward? Somebody tell me that this has worked for someone in the past...please.

I dont' know what the US was/is running but it sure isn't defence.
The 4-5-1 is pretty common in Europe and often used when the competition is strong and you want to bolster your defense by packing the midfield. It is expected that, on attacks, the midfielders (especially those on the flanks) will support and take on the role of forwards. At any rate, USA's problems were far bigger than their formation. I rant a bit about this in my latest blog entry.
