Yeah I'm no fan of Atlanta so I was certainly fine with this.

What's funniest to me is that Florida is only 4 games out of the wildcard despite spending 90% less than the Mets on payroll. 14 million vs 130 million IIRC.

It's actually $15mill. And you know what...it doesn't matter. The Mets also take in way more revenue and care about the team winning rather than just playing well enough to keep people coming to the ballpark.

It takes a team that cares about winning almost 20 years to actually win the division, money well spent I say!

It is good for them, the Mets are the only hope the NL has in winning the WS.

baseball still has fans?

I always see empty stadiums during the sports hilights

Trevor - I agree about the NL hopes. Did you hear about the trade that didn't go down at the trade deadline? The Orioles wanted to trade pitching coaches.

Brad - Maybe yer watching Bronco highlights? Seriously though, there are 162 games rather than what..16? Fans can go more at their leisure, not to mention you are probably watching small market teams.

I generally don't start following baseball until around the beginning of September. It is at that point that the games actually mean something.

And go Phillies! Tied for wildcard lead right now!

I'll be there for Game 1 of the NLDS, and workin' on game 2 tix as I type :D

I don't get it, there's a shortage of fan interest in baseball? Ballparks (other than horrific teams like the Orioles or terrible baseball towns like Miami or Atlanta -giggle-) for the most part don't seem to be having too much trouble getting fans into seats. Am I missing something?

agreed.... 162 games is SOOOO many. even basketball and hockey have a hard time selling out with 82 games and (what is it, 74? I'm not a canook, I can never remember). But 16 games, only 8 of them home dates... now EVERY game counts!!!
