This Space For Rent

More news coming shortly...

EDIT - I hate to do this to you Bojo, but this has been temporarily put on hold. The information that I'm looking for is off visiting in Colorado. I didn't want to post anymore and have this get buried.

It's Late

I just clocked out. I worked a 13 hour day. I didn't get to Mr. Defruiter what I promised him and I feel really bad about that. I promise to get it to you Brad. I think they'll come out fine.

I could really use a 4th meal right now.

Top 10 Things You May or May Not Have Known About The Girard

Mr. Schaefer if you please...

Number 10 - I am incredibly conceited. I think very highly of myself. However, when dealing with other people in terms of making a decision, I prefer not to make a decision that way I can't be held accountable for it.

Number 9 - I am a passive aggressive person. I will not step to you and tell you that you are wrong to your face. Instead I will berate you and make offhanded comments. I will usually not drop it either, even though I should.

Number 8 - I had a troubling childhood. I was the 2nd of 5 (sometimes 7) and the eldest male. I had spring fever issues where from when I can remember up until about my junior year in high school, I always got in trouble when spring rolled around. The trouble was of verying degrees. I collected baseball cards, but in the 90s the packs started to get more and more expensive. The expensive cards came out of the expensive packs. I was in Target during my lunch hour, dressed in my nice clothes and a tie because I was going to the Honor Roll dinner after school. I lifted some packs of cards and headed for the door. As I was exiting, there was a couple that looked like they were in a hurry so I held the door open for them. The gentlemen came out first and grabbed a hold of my arm. My mother had to pick me up from the police station. That was probably the most mild of my offenses.

Number 7 - I love 90s music. Music from the likes of Ace of Base, Real McCoy, Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer, etc. Sometimes this gets me some jeers, but I don't care, I like to jam out.

Number 6 - When I was younger, in our old house out in Mesa. I was playing online poker. I was messing around with a pocket knife and Marnie told me to quit it or else I would cut myself. Pocket Aces came up and I put that knife about blade deep into my left pointer finger knuckle. I wasn't supposed to be playing poker at the time, so I folded (yea yea, I know). Went out and showed the large amount of blood dripping from my hand. We double wrapped it and headed to the emergency room. The lady told us to have a seat. About 5 minutes later I was feeling dizzy, Marnie and I walked back up there and told her that it was bleeding a lot. It had bled through 2 double folded towels by now. She didn't believe me, I pulled it back and it squirted on her desk. She jumped up and I was seen immediately. I still have the scar on my hand.

Number 5 - I've had cancer. I had testicular cancer when I was 17 years old. It just started hurting on Friday, Saturday I didn't really notice it and then Sunday I couldn't walk. Monday I went to see a Urologist (no, not myologist, urologist). He thought that I had a hernia or that it was twisted from playing sports. He got my mother's permission over the phone (she was at work) and I was in surgery within a half an hour, I didn't get to see her before I went in. I woke up bandaged up and in those birthing type chassis on my hospital bed. I had about 8 people staring at my crotch, including my mother. My urologist (who was a pretty cool guy) said he had some good news and some bad news. The good news was that it wasn't a hernia or a twisted testicle, the bad news was that it's cancer (I had been out for about 5 hours or so and they ran the tests immediately after the surgery). They took the lymphnodes out all the way up to my waist, but couldn't finish the procedure because of the facility. The lymphnodes up to my waist all had traces of the cancer. Two weeks later I was on a plane to Seattle to the children's hospital to have the rest removed.

It was an 8 hour procedure. The hospital is connected to the university there and since I was one of 500 guys in the world that had this at this young of an age, if my mother signed a waiver so that I could be taped/used for class, they would pick up 3/4 of the bill. Of course we did it, the military paid for the other 1/4. I have a scar that runs from my waist up to the bottom of the middle of my rib cage. I couldn't really feel sorry for myself in that place, because there were 10 and 12 years old in the same area as me that were on dialysis.

Number 4 - I have Attention Deficit Disorder. When I was younger, my mother just told me that it was hyperactivity and not to drink red Kool-aid and I'd be fine. I got tested about 5 years ago. This was before WellbutranXR hit the market and I was on their test list. That stuff had huge problems back then. It sent me spiraling into a deeper depression than I already was in. It was very bad, suicidal thoughts, etc. I couldn't work, I could concentrate, but I didn't feel product and didn't want to work. I couldn't sleep either so they gave me sleeping pills as well. I was on a bad cocktail. There was pretty much one thing that pulled me from it...I got a job that I always wanted.

Number 3 - I believe that there is one person out there that is perfect for you and is your soulmate. I was lucky enough to find mine early on in life. I love Marnie with all my heart and there would be nothing that would ever drive us apart. We have been through some very very tough times and pulled through each time. And yes, we are still recovering from all the rent we put on our Discover card to start our life together. I absolutely love it when she laughs at my jokes too. I think that's all I really wanted in life.

Number 2 - I do not believe in organized religion at all. Throughout my life, I have been baptized in 5 different religions (Catholic, Protestant, Methodist, Baptist, and Luthern). One of those was on a bet basically. We were all playing football down at the park and a white van pulled up and out hopped some guys in black pants, white button up shirts and ties. They said that the first person to make it to the Baptist church (that was 6 blocks away) would get $10. I made it (this was when I was younger, probably a freshman in high school) and he said that I had to sit through the sermon and then I'd get it. I was hard up for cash at the time so I did it. I eventually was dipped in the water and got my $10. I've been to midnight mass with ex-girlfriends. I've been to teen night, I used to be able to name the first 8 books in the new testament. But I don't believe that there is some higher power that is either governing my moves, or will be there when I cease to exist. I believe that when we die, that is it. I do believe in the Force though (I'm kidding, it's just a fanboy thing).

Number 1 - I don't necessarily eat because I'm hungry. In my life, the place that I have found the most comfort is in food. When I eat a food that I like, it brings me to a better place and takes me from the bad place I was or was going. This has been true thoughout my life. When I was a kid I would sneak food. Not because I was hungry necessarily, but because it made me feel better. Unfortunately, this is a bad thing in terms of my health. I have tried to stop many times in the past, but I just can't do it. When I first started living in Virginia, I went Atkins, which still allowed me to eat some of my comfort food (most importantly...cheese) and I dropped some weight. I'm at the heaviest I've ever been in my life, I have to do something to correct this problem and I think the only way that I can do it is to become more active and try to do some activities that get my heart rate up.

That was probably deeper than it had to be and not as lighthearted some of the others, but whatever.

My Father

One of my greatest regrets in life is not spending more time with my dad.

He is doing better. He still has spells where it takes an effort to breath, but overall he is definitely doing better. He looks happier, so that's a big plus.

He and I are going to take a trip at the end of July. We are going to go to Dallas to visit my mother and catch a Rangers/Yankees game on the way to Illinois to drop of my older sister's pinball machine. He and I joke about how we are going to be tired of each other by the time it's done. I don't think that could possibly happen.

I really like the war stories as well. Listening to him tell stories about his minifridge or the poor sap who took a stick to the can in the middle of the night that looked like a rifle despite there being a curfew.

I'm glad I'm back in Arizona, and right now, there is little that will get me to move away from my father.

Lastings Milledge could beat up Chuck Norris

And here is the proof for those that are doubters.

DAMN IT!!!!

I keep forgetting to go and view this trailer. I'm guessing it's a prequel. I'm not as weary as some of my friends about prequels, but I can't remember for the life of me to view this trailer when it's available.

No Kidding...I'll probably still play it

You knew it was coming and I agree, it probably sounds more like a slot machine rather than a cash register.

Sweden v. Paraguay at lunch

I was able to catch from about the 60 min mark to the 80th or so. The Paraguay keeper just made an amazing play while shielded by two players.

And...

Gerrard scored today for England...Go Girard~!!!!!

Ecuador vs. Costa Rica

Ecuador looks really good. Mendez had a couple of great passes, including that centering pass in stoppage. Costa Rica just looked like they gave up from about the 60th minute on (with the exception of sab's shot that hit the cross bar). Germany vs. Ecuador should be a great game.

Futbol in Koln

yea...I don't know how to umlaut.

Portugal looked "good enough" yesterday and Angola didn't.

However, this morning I heard something weird and for the first time. The US is running a 4-5-1. WTF? 1 forward? Somebody tell me that this has worked for someone in the past...please.

Turn 2: Drain for 5

OMFG....guess where I went today. I played in Arizona Regionals...for SWCCG. That's right, Mr. Girard returned to the scene of the crime 8 years later. Back in 1998, I went to the Star Wars CCG Arizona Regionals and beat Mike Strahan in the finals to earn a bye and a trip to the World Championship. Eight years later, the prizes are different and there are virtual cards, but it's still SWCCG.

Pre Tournament Jank -

Mike the Man Bahr was all like..."dude, you gotta playing SWCCG regionals on saturday." I was like "ehh, where is it...in Eloy?" He says "no way man, the MU." So I was in. I needed to decks. I dial up the Financier and I'm like "I need the tech yo." He dials up the Yellow Menace and the game was afoot. The Chu comes through with a mad tech Tusken/Mines and Watch Your Broken. Bahr didn't have any Corellias in stock (did you know those are fetching like $10 a pop on ebay?) so he made me speeders on Hoth and called it a metagame call. So everyone came through and I was set. I swear I got a woody reading the tech from the Chu.

Tournament Day -

I'm at the MU and Ruston pairs us up for round 1 and we are off. I had a lot of virtual cards that I needed to go through and make sure I don't miss anything. I haven't played a game in years so I was going in cold.

Game 1 - Red haired Kid - Hidden Base Ops

I feel bad because I know this kid from back in the day but I don't remember his name. He had Hidden Base, which is a bad matchup for me. I get UR'rrrurrorr and his bantha down turn one for a drain of 5 turn 2. I get Maul/ship down turn three so I am sitting pretty. He comes out with some systems and regular Xwings and...asteroids. I think I'm ok at this point. I get down another set of bantha and Tusken for the Search and Destroy and it finishes him off.

Dark Side Full Win by 28

- My buddy Bahr is the only light side win, so I play him.

Game 2 - Michael Bizahr - It's a mystery

The pizza at the pizza joint was good.

Light Side Full win by 15 (4 +33)

Game 3 - Brian Choongphol - Cloud City Mains

I have like 4 things that pull stuff on my turn and I'm sure I lost a turn or two early on because I didn't pull something I was supposed to. I chock it up to not playing a game in like 4 years. He comes down to the 4th marker with the Emperor. It is at this time that I realize I can't pull the Hoth: Etcho Lab because it doesn't have Hoth in the gametext and it's not exterior. He follows up the Emp with a Walker and Vader/Stick at the Causeway. I set up Haven, Frostbite at Hoth. We trade losses here and there. Early on I It Could Be Worse and he doesn't catch it because he's afraid I'm going to bust out with something else more deadly. Good call on his part. Turn 1, I pulled Do or Do Not because he dropped the Emperor turn 1. I should have pulled Wise Advise as well, because he immediately Alter'ed Goo Nee Tay. We trade blows on the ground between some walkers and combat vehicles. He puts me on my edge when he Luke, Luuuuuke's on Vader targeting the commander. I'm retreiving a bit here and there and making him lose. I eventually lose a couple battles and it gets down to where I only have Hoth and 1 Hoth site and he's draining for 3 with vader and two at Bespin and time is running out. So of course time is called, it's neither of ours faults we were making calculated moves. I have 9 and he has .... 10. :(
TL -10. (4 +23)

Game 4 - Brian Choongful - Endor/Luke Objective start (OMFG it's been a long time, I can't even remember the Jedi Luke dueling objective).

BAM...Tusken + Bantha...drain for 5 on turn two. He came down, I sandwhirled, he lost guys. That was about the extent of the game. The biggest highlight was when he came down the first time to Tatooine with General Solo, guy and Woislea. Next turn he was going to purchase the Bantha...not on my watch. That speeder selling scheister got lost in the Desert Heart and was never heard from again. The Tusken Raiders and Banthas ruled the deserts and the Sandwhirl kept the hit squads at bay.
FW 20ish (6 +40something)

Game 5 - Chris Shaner - Profit.

I give him no guys. That's right, I have like 3 different tuskens in the deck and Maul. What am I gonna give him? So I get Maul/ship down first turn and he drained for 2 the entire freaking game. I get Urrurrororr/Bantha and Urrur down first turn. He comes down with Leia, gun and lando w/axe. He loses Leia and I lose URRurrurror. I sandwhirl and next turn play another URRurrrorrur. He comes down again and chops up Urrrurror. Great...I have to lose everyone so I am completely out of the best character in my deck. A Mining droid parks his round self in the Audience Chamber. I proceed to blockade characters with an impending Sandwhirl, so nobody wants to go outside and yet the mining droid is keeping people out of the Audience Chamber. Eventually he frees Han, retreives and Luke + Han get blows'ed up by another mine, that .... coincidently goes to the used pile. I'm desperately fishing for cards to play that have ability. I get two bantha, my last tusken and Urrurror's bantha down to the desert heart, I can play Urrur as a react with the Herd. He comes down with Quigon with stick and beats up on my guy and I don't lose too much and still have Banthas around. Early on I Alter his Light side search and destroy and he decides to grabber that. So my senses are now running free. He attempts to Nabrun, I Ghhk/those rebels it away. I Surprise a Sandwhirl that was about to be decimated by the screen door to the Audience Chamber out to the Desert Heart and more rebels go missing. He harvests, but then Owen/Beru go missing. Time is called, I have 20ish and he has around 13. OMG...talk about smoke and freaking mirrors. I ended up draining with 2x Banthas for like the last 3-4 turns.
TW 20ish (7 +55 or so, who knows)

Game 6 - Patrick Hug Bespin Mains and Toys.

I lose to Imperial Command at Hoth with Haven, Capt Han, Coran Horn against Executor and fodder. Two turns later, JQuille comes down (can't find the Meditation to save my life) he makes me lose 3 then Blizzard walkers swarm Reiken, Zev/Rogue2, and an Etcho base Trooper. That was it, I lost by like 30 or something.
FL 30ish (7 +20 or so maybe)

I end up booking out of there before prizes were handed out, so I just told Ruston to give my stuff to the Bahr. I ended up bringing the Jedi Luke DecipherCon shirt (the gray one). I believe it was Patrick Hug and either Choongphol or Mr. Ketchum in the finals. So I came back after like 3-4 years of not playing and lost two games. One was a blowout the other was a close timeout. I'm looking forward to AZ states in like a month, I gotta a lot of research to do if I'm gonna tech out something.

Props -
- Lingrell - came through in the clutch, remind me to invest in your business or something.
- Chu - The yellow menace does it again. Tusken and Mining droids? Who the freak knew.
- Mike Bahr - Thanks for the decks and dragging me out of retirement. I owe you buddy.
- Ruston - You ran a good tournament.
- Choongphol - I always look forward to playing a game with you. You are a thinking man and I can always see the wheels turning. We always have a fun game no matter who wins or loses.
- AZ crew - This game has been dead for how many years? There were 12 people there, I don't even think LOTR TOC had 12 people even last year. I can't explain it, people are dedicated.
- Players Committee - I'm impressed, the game hasn't been produced in years and you keep the pulse pumping.

Slops
- Jay Webb - what's up sucka, where were you?
- The Jew - Sinclair? I pm'ed you, you should have showed.
- J'Quille - Who the hell designed this card?
- Patrick Hug - You always seem to have my number. We always have a professional game but I don't think I have beaten you in a very long time. You are consistent.
- Expensive Weird Cards - Correlia, All wings Combo, Short-Range Fighters combo. Some darkside weapon from Coruscant. Who knew that these cards would command a high dollar value. Weird Market.

Up next...AZ States and there is even talk about going to Utah states to own up their state as well. I can't believe I'm thinking of traveling for this game again, I miss it ... A LOT!

A Buck for Showing Up

Sometimes there is debauchery that goes on in this blog, this is one of those times.

Me and 3 of my friends all decided to go out and celebrate one of their 2 week old birthdays tonite. That guy would be Steve. Steve is the one that was wearing the picture of the shirt above, I thought it was funny to snap a picture and share with Mr. Defruiter.

The night started at Claim Jumper. That freaking restaurant's portions put places like Buca di Beppos to shame. We got the sampler appetizer and the plate was like a foot and a half long just covered in tasty bites that you would expect from an appetizer sampler. I got the 24oz prime rib and I couldn't freaking finish it. It was huge and the sides were huge. That tells you how much food was there.

We then moved to Christie's. It's right off I-10 by the Arizona mills mall. That area is pretty commercial and pretty public. When they first started to build Christie's a lot of people were up in arms because of the location of the strip club so close to "civilization". We roll up into Christie's about 8pm or so. It was already pretty packed, they sit us on the outskirts tables. It's $10 a table dance and no couch dances. The girls were pretty good looking, there were a number of thick girls so I was pretty ok with it. But then they started ignoring us, we turned down two table dances because we hadn't been there but like 3 minutes and didn't have our first drinks yet. Nobody, other than the waitress, ever talked to us again. After about 45 minutes or so, we were like "screw this place, if they don't wanna take our money, fine, we'll go elsewhere". We then went to Bliss, which is about 30-40 minutes away via freeway.

Bliss is out of the way. It's much less class than Christie's, but the girls tend to do "more for ya". I didn't get a couch dance ($10), I was content with just sitting at the stage. Let me tell you something, there is pretty much one place in the world that it's good to be a big guy and it's at a strip club. Where normal girls maybe be like "ewww, a fat guy" the stripper is like "oooo...a pommel horse". I got three headstands from my crouch. Plenty of legs on the shoulders with my face right in her crouch and plenty of girls leaning right on me to shove my face between her boobs. One girls was like "hey, I see that you couldn't stay away" and I was like "whoa, she remembers me". I was happy through the entire song and probably threw some extra 1s on the stage that I normally wouldn't chuck up there. I turn to Brad and was like "she remembers me". He gives me this look like I just signed up to sell Amway and think it's the greatest thing ever. I sit back in my seat and felt like I just got "Marcus'ed". Only Marcus will get that, I suppose I could have went with "Snider'ed" as well, but "Marcus'ed" has a nicer ring to it. We were there till they put the pasties on. All in all, I pretty much love that place.

I'm down about $170 or so, but hey, it was well worth it. Stopped at Krispy Kreme on the way home and got a couple fresh glazed. It was a good night. It's good to hang out with friends every once and a while.

The title comes from what my canadian friend, Brad, and I have dubbed the first dollar that hits the stage.

Guess what I did last night

no, you goofy mofos, well yea, but that's not what I'm talking about here.

Last night was the first time in like 3 months where I didn't dream about work (part numbers, expeditingk, COI, etc) or World of Warcraft. And let me say that I woke up refreshed.

I dreamt that we were all hanging out at what looked to be a Joe's Crab Shack (Me, Clark, the Canadian, Jay, Steve, Voigt) and then Mike Bahr strolled on in and handed me a check. The check had 6 zeros and a number between 1 and 9 at the front. See, my arm was in a sling because a buddy of mine, Clayton, came in and spray and prayed. Why I don't remember, but fresh faced attorney Mike Bahr was representing me and he just came to deliver my cashier's check and let me know that they settled.

We paid the bill for the awesome shrimp, stopped by the house so I pick up Marnie, hit the bank and then we all went to Vegas. I stepped out of the car at the Mirage and Mr. Defruiter greeted me there. And the whole lot of us, gambled...a lot.

And then I woke up...

Sam pwns an Andretti

Sam wrecked Andretti right before the finish line and took the 90th running. It was a pretty good race. I missed some of the middle of the race, but I saw Danica pit early and she probably would have won if there was no yellow in the last 10 laps.

Oh well, Sam is a good driver. Next up ... some Futbol

Again with the pop culture

So...

My account exec at work is going to Vegas this weekend. He's a typical normal 30-something guy who likes sports, etc. He was talking to a team member of mine (single mom, 40-ish, etc) and she says to him "here, here's a dollar, play roulette for me." He asks what spot does he want to bet on for her. They go back and forth about what a "safe" bet is. She comes over to me and asks me. I quickly respond with "Obviously Red 5".

She is like..."why obviously". I look at my AE and I'm like "c'mon help me out here". He has no clue. I'm starting to feel really geeked out here. Luckily the config guy sitting near my desk (around my age) pipes up with "yea Girard, I know why you bet on Red 5"

I explain to them why and then I proceed to start questioning people I know that "should" know this but they don't. My faith in the geeks of the world fades just a little bit today.

And...if you don't know why you should bet on Red 5. I don't even know you...*sniff*

Marnie found vent/teamspeak

And I get to hear little nuggets of goodness all the time, like this one

"I'll just mind control him and tell him that we aren't going to hurt him"

I turn to her all serious and say, "who do you think you are, Professor X"

and sadly, she didn't get it. I thought it was humorous. I guess I haven't pop-cultured her enough.

...silly little fairy.

If I were casting...

new superman trailer

...I would have cast Hayden-William Courtland as Superman.

and of course Mark Tuttle as Lex Luthor.

On a Sunday afternoon...

I'm just sitting here feeling kinda depressed. My WSOP freeroll qualifier for the WSOP satellite is about to start (3500). Marnie is running BRD for the emperor and it doesn't sound like it's going very well. They always have issues with the lyceum.

Thank goodness the Mets just got out of the inning with only giving up a single run. And I swear, if I see another damn graphic about how well Scott Kazmir is, I think I'm gonna be sick.

3pm

Some people like to recognize 4:20, I, myself, like to recognize 3pm.

For about two years, 3pm drink runs were a norm. No matter what you were doing, you could stop, realize that there is something other than trying to force a square peg into a round hole (or perhaps 9 lines of text onto a card...although, why it was 9 lines in the first place remains to be seen).

Today was ... troublesome. I was feeling pretty down about a couple friends of mine and I looked up and it was 3pm. Well guess what, I busted out the car keys, told everyone I'd be back in 15 minutes. Drove down to the CircleK and got a drink. It was a Sobe Power (the cap said Chop Chop). I spent those 15 minutes thinking about all the friends I have made in the past couple years thanks to someone taking a chance on me.

Went to Urgent Care yesterday, they said it's acute bronchitis. I got some prednisone (which my mom took for her asthma) and some cough syrup with codeine.

They didn't make me sleep any better. I think I need to cut back on the 106 hours per pay period at mah job.

Save a penny, take forever

Marnie and I were at Walmart today. He got our usual cart full of ... well pretty much nothing healthy to eat. But we are going to try and eat at home rather than eat out all the time.

ANYWAY....

So the lady in front of us has a cart full of groceries as well. And she busts out with her pocket size notebook. Marnie is like "oh geez, she's probably got all the prices from the other stores and plans on getting the price match guarentee." And I say, "it's probably just her shopping list". Well it turns out Marnie was right. We waited while this woman went through about 40-50 items that she wanted a better price on. Marnie and I stood there for about 20-30 minutes while this lady save a buck or two here and there. Well, me being impatient like I am and well...passive aggressive, I just stood there and had a bad attitude about it.

Marnie goes to the people behind us, "dont' worry about us, we won't be doing that." The old guy responded with "why not? If it saves you money, why wouldn't you do that, heck we do." So...Marnie gets owned by this guy, 15 minutes later the lady gets finished with her price match and she totals about $89 or so. We roll up next, the checker looks relieved to be done with her and she rings up our stuff. We have a little less in our cart and ours comes to $150 or so. Now granted, we don't buy generic stuff, we buy a lot of premade dinners and the higher end ice cream.

The Moral of the story is ... it's good to be a yuppie.

Past Weekend

ugh, I pretty much did nothing. I was sick on Saturday, I was supposed to watch the draft with my dad but I felt like crap. He did make sure to call me and ask who the DB that the dolphins drafted was.

I made sure to send Joe a message to let him know that the Titans are screwed. I think the Broncos were one of the top three teams for the draft, along with the Cardinals. The "experts" are saying that the most successful QB will be Cutler followed by Leinhart because of the systems they are in.

I played a little bit of WoW, but it didn't really hold my interest.

I watched Steve Nash get royally robbed on Sunday. Luke Walton needs to give Steve his wallet back. And the Mets gave Jeff Francouer an early Mayday gift (not sure if Jeff is russian or not) and then lost.

I have some opinions about the whole immigrant thing, but alas, I'm trying to curve some of my political views because I have been labeled as a racist/bigot in the past.

Tonite is going to be good though. I get to see McGregor and he and I have sweet seats on the Diamond Level at the OldBob/NewChase Field. Hopefully I can make it there for the first pitch and he can see at least 4 innings before he has to catch his plane.

Bleh, I still feel like crap.

On 4/26, I celebrate 10 years of happiness

I remember 10 years ago when people would say "it won't last", "they are way too young, they have their whole lives ahead of them", and the ever popular "it's not to late to get an annulment." I knew that I loved this woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.

Here it is 10 years later and I love her just as much as I did 10 years ago (in fact, if it's possible, I love her more). We have many struggles in our lives over the past 10 years, whether it was wealth, health, or just conflicting views, but we always reconciled and even though each of us said hurtful things at times, nothing was ever taken to heart.

I have always done big things for our anniversary. Usually it consisted of roses to her work or something similar. One year I sent her a white rose for every year we were married with a single red rose in the bouquet. For our 5th year, I sent her 5 sets of flowers that were delivered at 5 different intervals during the day. This year I was thinking of just picking her up from work and going to Vegas for the night. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I wanted some more memorable for the 10th anniversary.

Well, I know that I love Marnie Girard...and now everyone that I know/meet will know that I love her as well.

My Science Project

So I have traveled to Tucson from Phoenix and back all the time. Outside of Tucson on I-10 you can see the airplane graveyard from the highway. I've always wanted to see it up close. Well on the way back from Tucson on saturday, I thought I would take the exit and see if I could get a close up look. That blurry picture was taken from the parking lot of the guard shack. I rolled up in my new-ish hooptie and the guard (who was my size) is like, "can I help you?"

"I've always wanted to see this place up close," I said.

"It's not open to the public son," he said. Son? You are probably younger then me man.

"Oh, ok, I'll just pull a u-turn and get out of your hair," I said.

"no, you'll put it in reverse and back out that way," he said.

So I did. I pulled over into the parking lot and snapped the picture. This guard shack was pretty ghetto. It had just the single bar gate and some mini speed bumps and the security guys were wearing Evergreen Security patches.

I was disappointed so I called up my dad and see if he had some pull or something, maybe he could get me in. His first response was "you didn't!"

"What's the big deal?" I said.

"Yea, that's not only an airplane graveyard, but they also test Apache helicopters there and there is a big CIA presence there as well, think Area 51 type security," he said.

Personnally, I think he's pulling my leg, but you never know. I remember living in Montana and driving down the highway just to see a perfect 8 ft by 8ft square patch of grass with a fence and barbwire around it (missile silo). So I am keeping an open mind. Maybe one of my friends that works for that place that makes rockets knows something.

I wonder if she's glaad

I was playing in a freeroll. Went all in on J/K with A/J/K on the board. The turn came a 7 and of course the other guy that was all in with me had 77...whatever.

So I'm watching the Glaad media awards as well. Will and Grace won best comedy...who knew. Melissa Etheridge won the lifetime acheivement award...Clark will be happy. However, what I don't understand is that for every...single...pan and scan of the audience for their reaction showed Charlize Theron. I mean every single one. There were other people as they panned away, but she was always in one of the shots. Weird, maybe I'm not up on my "in style gay/lesbian supporters of Hollywood" or the ISGLSOH.

Let's Go Mets!

After a brief hiccup on Saturday, the Mets cleaned up and took the series from the Brew Crew on Sunday (sorry Tom, Sheets looked rusty).

They start against tougher teams on Monday with a series vs. the ever problematic ATL Braves. The Braves are having pitching problems, but they can still put it together and make it rough for the Mets.

The Mets are looking good and are looking like the team they have been the past couple years. The entire lineup is crushing the ball and with the exception of Jorge Julio, the pitchers are looking really good.

On a side note, I gotta go get a rubber chicken for tomorrow nights game, Me and the pops are gonna see the Giants and Dbacks at Chase Field.

for my buddy who needs to pass the Bahr

A high school senior goes into a counselor's office and says "I need to get going and apply for some colleges".

The counselor says," Well where do you want to go?"

The kid says, "Well, how about BYU?"

The counselor asks,"Well are you mormon?" The kid shakes his head and the counselor says,"Well that will be tough, is there another school?"

The kid says, "Well, how about Notre Dame?"

The counselor asks, "Well are you catholic?" The kid shakes his head and the counselor says, "Well that will be tough kid, real tough."

The kid mutters, "Son of a bitch"

The counselor pipes up and says, "If you can prove that, we can get you into the ASU School of Law!"

Livin' Life

So life is trucking along. My new job is starting to really take its toll. We recently lost a team member and the work load increased at the same time. Unfortunately we weren't able to replace that team member with someone of similar experience right away. Oh well, a lot of stuff is falling to me and maybe I'm just emo'ing about it too much.

The work at Decipher is going great. I'm working on putting the finishing touches on one game's set and starting the next set's pre-design on it. And I'm glad to be working with Brad again. That man is a genius and he and I are a great team. I only wish I could be in the office, things would be smoother. Decipher is definitely doing better. I scheduled the events for Gencon and Origins these past couple weeks and looking forward to having Continentals "mean a little bit more this year".

So whereas the roles of my jobs were kind of mismatched towards the beginning of the year, it is different now.

Also -
A friend contacted me this week. A friend I haven't seen since high school. She was the best friend of the tail that I was chasing the first half of my senior year. It's amazing how things change in 10 years. Speaking of which, not only is my 10 year reunion this year, but in 15 days I will be celebrating my 10th wedding anniversary. Yea...I'm old.

Birthday Cake

I forgot to post this on Wednesday. This is the "cake" that my loving wife got me for my b-day. It's an oreo pie with cool spongebob and patrick characters on the top. I like pie.

it's raining outside and the sprinklers are on and the sun is shining.

bleh...

I'm 28 today.

My proudest accomplishment thus far in life is that in two weeks I will be celebrating my 10th wedding anniversary with my loving wife.

Then some other stuff falls in line like being an accomplished game designer, not dying to cancer, leveling to 60, knowing Brad Defruiter.

For my birthday, I'd like two things. 1) to turn the way back machine to around 3-4 years ago and B) not to have the state of virginia suck so much.

Anticipation then Disappointment

I like to read blogs. They allow me to to see into other peoples' lives. Most of the regular blogs that I read are people that I have met face to face. I don't fancy reading other peoples' blogs because they are famous for blogging and what not.

So here's the deal...

that means you are supposed to pay more attention to what I'm saying now.

When I go to certain peoples' blogs, I am anxious to see that today might be that day that they update their blogs and have a funny story about a situation they were in. And I would crack a smile because I would think to myself.."hey," I would tell myself,"I know these guys and that is a cool story that they are sharing with me."

But sadly, I have been disappointed by those folks for they have not updated their blogs in quite some time.

I'm surprised they don't have stuff like "do you pronounce creek as crik"

Mah first Purp!!!

I'm on my way to being a barney.

I'm apping for Siege right now. They don't use DKP, they have a loot council. When something drops, you msg the leader with what the new piece would be replacing. They are all about gearing everybody up and it's a freaking fun guild to hang out with (we bg'ed all weekend, you have no idea how funny it is to watch idiot alliance try to take down a prot specc'ed warrior with 5 different insta health timers, running the flag). We downed Rags on the first attempt on friday, then went and downed Ony and then downed Ony on Saturday as well.

Anyway, here is my first Purple. It's great because my FR isn't what it is supposed to be for a warrior. This puts me at about 112 unbuffed.

Interesting Marketing Research

I've been meaning to post about this for about a month now, but the only time that I remember it is when I'm in the cafeteria and somehow I seem to completely forget it by the time I reach my desk.

So in the cafeteria where I work, they have the typical cereal in some form of packaging (this time it's a pseudo-bowl-ish packaging, it's usually in small boxes, etc). Well, they obviously have a variety of choices, that is until they are getting down to needing restocking. There are about 6 packages per row and there are about 6 rows. Obivously there are going to be cereals that not a lot of people like, well here is the observation -

Cocoa Puffs and Lucky Charms are always there in abundance. It appears that these are the two most unpopular cereals out of the kelloggs family. There are always more of these then there are of the other cereals because some of them are carry-overs from the previous stocking. Why is that? Are these viewed as more of a kids cereal? The Cheerios/Cinnamon Toast Crunch/other various kelloggs cereals always go before the Cocoa Puffs and Lucky Charms.

And somebody somewhere is paid twice what I make to make this observation.

What is up with Blogger?

Is it just me or has this site been erratic lately? I've had like three things to post and everytime I've gone to post them, it has taken forever to load and then usually times out.

I blame chuck.

The Campaign is Over...

...or is it?

We finished our latest installment of the DnD campaign (link is to the right). It turns out the bad guy we were hunting down wasn't the one we thought it was, it was a totally different guy.

The campaign was really fun and exciting. Even with my broken sword I wasn't able to keep up with the damage. DnD is a great excuse to get together with your friends and have fun. I look forward to the next installment (whether it be a continuation of this campaign or the start of a new one).

Pops Rolls

This is a picture of my Dad's Rolls Royce. I believe it's a '76 or so. He is a partner in a chauffuer business and he has a Rolls and a Bentley. I got to drive one. It drives like a tank and has two sets of breaks.

Buddy of Mine

This is a picture of a buddy of mine that appears to be stuck in the apple at the playland in the mall. These play areas are set up so kids can play while the adult units take a load off and rest from shopping. My friend is large and we bet him that he couldn't fit through it.

Picture Time!!!

I will make the next couple of posts about pictures.

This is the lake behind the building that I work at. Often times I will go out and converse with a friend of mine during a "smoke break". It is very peaceful. There are ducks and a swan. The lake is filled with huge fish and sometimes there are fishers out there as well.

I wonder what level fishing I would need to fish there and if I can, could I snag some oily blackmouths. I need to get some underwater breathing pots.

I'll take a beer, here's my hockey ticket

So the Coyotes scored at least 4 goals last night, so that means if you go and show your hockey ticket at a Taco Bell you get a free Chalupa. Yay for free taco bell.

My buddy Clark said, "That's how it should work for other things. Gimme a beer, here's my hockey ticket." So instead of money, we should just get double/triple use out of our hockey tickets.

My other buddy Voigt won't be getting his free Chalupa because he is protesting the marketing campaign.

What would you do?

No...not for a klondike bar. The following is a list of monetary amounts and explanations of what I would do with said monetary amounts.

$1000 - Buy a new computer. Right now, WoW is running rather sluggishly on the laptop that I am using for it. I can't use the home machine, because well, that is where my wife likes to play. I have to give justifications as to why I'm on that machine if I ever sit down in the chair there.

$10,000 - Not sure on this. I would love to put a down payment on a house and this might be enough for us. With my wife possibly changing jobs and me with 2 jobs (1 questionable) I don't know if now is the right time to be doing it, but damn if I hate having to deal with taking the dogs out on a leash and not having a backyard, etc.

$100,000 - I would look at opening my own business. I have always had an entrepreneur's heart, but I have never been able to reliably act on it. I'm lucky that I was able to marry early in life and bring stability to it, but that itch has always been there. I have worked for other entrepreneurs and have seen what they have done (both good and bad) and I would love to take a crack at it. Maybe not even be the sole guy, maybe a partnership. I've just always had to worry about drawing a salary rather than taking a huge chance like this.

$1,000,000 - Whatever the wife tells me too.

Yea I know I kinda copped out on that last answer, but that's how I truly feel.

So...I found the other guy

I was chatting it up a co-worker of mine and he is hip to the top 100 movie list. At first he was like "100 movies, I can't even think of 100 movies" and now he's at like 205. However, the point of this post was that he, like I, has Hudson Hawk in the top 100....so there!!!

And I lent him my TMNT and TMNT II, and he lent me the Special Edition 2-disk DVD set of Big Trouble in Little China.

He's probably going to have a fair number of anime movies on his list.

Don't hold back

Tell Me what You REALLY think

Lesson Learned

Just because the outdoor pool is heated, doesn't mean it's a good idea to swim at 6am when it's still like 40 degrees outside.

What happens in .. uhh.. Laughlin

stays in Laughlin?

So it's like a Diet Vegas, just 1 calorie, not quite Vegas enough.

I'm typing this on the saturday night because I spent my alloted money for gambling...but craps never ever felt so good. I love playing craps. They just weren't kind to me.

I love this game

Not only is he not going home...he's got immunity for the next tribal council AND he gets to replace the person voted out. All he has to do is spend three days on exile island. That's right, playground picking of teams..you get the big finger!!!

the Threes

Stolen from Mother Lischke (no..not Tom's mom) who stole it from Eve:

3 JOBS I'VE HELD: Equipment Operator, Senior Game Designer, Burger Flipper

3 MOVIES I COULD WATCH OVER AND OVER: Fifth Element, Rounders, Transformers:the Movie (cause you got the touch....you've got the power!!!!!!111)

3 PLACES I'VE LIVED: Rhaunen Deutschland, Great Falls Montana, Chandler Arizona

3 FAVORITE TV SHOWS: Survivor, SportsCenter, Family guy

3 VACATIONS I'VE TAKEN: Vermont (with dad), to the Tulip Festival in der Nederlands (with sister and grandmother), and Disneyland (with Marnie)

3 WEBSITES I VISIT DAILY: Penny Arcade, Running on Empty, and vSocial

3 FAVORITE FOODS: Mac&Cheese, Queso, Pizza

3 PLACES YOU'D RATHER BE: Azeroth, 2 doors down from 253 Granby street (about a year ago, with a CapeCod in hand), and Financially Stable

Bleh

That was not a push off

The ball did not cross the goal line

That was not a block below the knees (just like it wasn't on ben on the next drive)

That wasn't a holding penalty when they were on the one.

I was more unimpressed with the officials than I was with the play of the Steelers.

And outside of the 2nd careerbuilder commercial and one of Michelob commercials, those were lackluster as well. And don't even get me started on the Geriatric Halftime show. A friend of mine put it plainly, "maybe they should rename it the WWE instead of the NFL."

So my friend got Twiddled...

Remember the friend I was telling you about that got the blue mana symbol on his arm as a tattoo? Yea well, he was in the hospital today. He has an issue with a medical condition where he may pass out (only it's not really passing out),regardless, he's been ok for awhile now but had an episode today at home. His roomates called the ambulance and he ended up in the emergency room. He's ok now and should be home in an hour or so.

Needless to say, someone spent that 1 blue and he got tapped out.

Schlepo ta Weepo

The wife and I had a nice dinner last night at Buca di Beppo.

Normally this type of thing isn't news worthy, but it got me thinking about all the other times that I frequented this restaurant and a certain person was always very excited about going. Hopefully I'll get to go with you again sometime this con season Bojo.

She conceeded in the meatball eating race. So I'm 2-0.

You wanna run this ship?

Well...too bad, you can't.

So I watched the movie tonite. I was excited and the movie started out really really freaking awesome. It was fast paced and there was a lot of action. Reavers were kicking the crap out of a town (again, very little screen time) and then...

.....nothing....

it dropped off and there was a lot of talking. They shoehorned in the sheppard and bahr's dream girl. The beginning of Miranda was kinda blah until the origins of Reavers came along. They should have showed the Reaver eating the hologram lady, that would have rocked. Then Malc got all holy roller-ish. The Battle of Wolf 359 was pretty good. I heard a TIE fighter pewpewpew.

Then....BAM...he WAS a leaf on a wind.

Mike Bahr...why is she using a Bow and Arrow? Reavers kick ass btw. Malc being able to take a sword is kinda...ehh, but I can buy it, he's the hero. She should have beat the hell out of those alliance mopes. The main alliance guy wussing out is kind of a drag.

Overall, I liked it. I could have had more Reaver scenes, but I guess they didn't want to gore it up too much. I do like it, but George Lucas is still my master.

I have People Skillz!!!

So this is my 3rd week at my new job. And that guy at the right, yea that's me. I take the orders from the customers and pass them on to the engineers and then get the configs from the engineers and get those back to the customers. And then I enter the orders.

I'm sorry, that's what I would be doing if I wasn't missing software that I need in order to process quotes. But it was still a week of firsts.

- I got my first "hey I'm not going to put you high on the priority list" response from someone on the inside and then when the proverbial stuff hit the fan I got, from the same person "hey, I guess your job is important to you and I'd had to be responsible for you screwing up do to lack of information".

- I have a sticky note on my monitor that says "CLOCK IN"!!!! This is because, despite being no less than a half hour early to work everyday, I get busy and forget to clock in. Then I get the "did you get the memo" speech about clocking in,etc. See clocking in at an office job is much different than say at a fast food or retail job, but whatever

-I got the "hey, I'm not saying you are inept or new at this, but I want to make sure it's done correct so I'm going to do it". :( How am I going to be productive if all I do all day is look at cnn.com. It's not like I did it wrong, I was misinformed about what information was supposed to be provided in the first place and somehow that's my fault.

- I have received they "You are not supposed to be looking at this website" message. These include espn.com, worldofwarcraft.com (although the euro portal still comes up, back door eh...good idea), imdb.com just to name a few. This is vastly different than the 404 error "You are not AUTHORIZED to be viewing this" which one receives by trying to surf to a website with questionable content (certain vsocial sites have this, probably do to tags).

However, there have been some great features as well.

- They have a cafeteria, so I'm attempting to eat right. Every morning I have breakfast, usually either bacon/eggs or a yogurt parfait. Lunch today was a grilled cheese on sourdough with a cup of tomato basil bisque. They also have large macadamien nut cookies, but shhh, don't tell marnie, she'll kill me.

- They have cool software, especially one that is a terminal-esque type software where you have to memorize screens in order to get where you are going. Most of these look like word verification things. Examples are CUSSMM or PURPDE.

All in all it's a learning experience. The two full time job gig might be starting to wear on me, but I'm in talks with Marnie about her possibly quitting and being a stay at home wife to take care of stuff that I don't much feel like taking care of when I get home from my day job.

ATTK 4 2

I had a friend who was once going to get that on his license plate, now he has a tattoo of the blue mana symbol on his left arm.

I went prereleasing on saturday. The judge that we drew for my pod only gave us 20 minutes for deck construction so it was tough trying to digest all the new cards and making sure not to overlook power in other colors, etc. I ultimately decided on R/W/G because well, Timmy likes to play cratures and swing for 2. I got a Legionaire, the 1/2 doublestrike guy, a couple of Wildsizes (which I believe is an amazing cycle of cards), and a couple of phatties that will swing for 6+. I breezed through my first two opponents and ran into the mirror match in the 3rd match. He had more of an enchantment focus on the magemarks and the common guy that got +1/+1 while enchanted. He played me to a 1/2 loss and then I went on to smoke my 4th round opponent. The guy who beat me got first and I got 3rd so I got 5 packs for my effort.

Favorite card from the set is the card pictured. How could you not like that guy, draw a card ping for one. They could have probably knocked a R/U off his cost and removed the T: draw a card text, but I have noticed that recently magic has gone for more of the direct approach and would rather have a combo be included in 1 card rather than make the player search elsewhere for the trigger. Example - If Megrim came out for the first time in a recent set, it would probably have "Cost: Discard a card" added onto it.

Later on Saturday I got kicked out of Hounds of Rexxar. It was high school drama all over again. I posted on a different guilds website asking if they were recruiting protection spec'ed warriors because I had heard through the grapevine that they were. Now this guild requires a lot of committment and I wasn't sure if I wanted to put in that much effort and it wasn't that I had actually applied for this new guild. But the powers that be in HoR saw the post and they took it as an application and as soon as I logged on, i was /gkick'ed. I tried to speak with the guy that kicked me to see if it could be resolved or at least give him my side of the story, but he put me on ignore. So I'm guildless once again. I think I will see if I can tag along with the new guild unless HoR accepts my petition. I truly want to be in HoR and wouldn't have applied if I didn't. Oh well.

It's a good thing I didn't bet on football this weekend, I would have gotten SEA right, but I probably would have bet on DEN and lost. I feel bad for Brad, they were doing so well.

Not much else is going on, we didn't get to game yesterday because of some miscommunication (evidently nobody told steph that we were gaming later rather and canceling all together). We really need to figure out a way to down that mage. I have to get with the mages to see if there is a spell that will prevent the evil mage from seeing me coming. Element of surprise and all that.

Sustaining

That's about it right now. I started the new job and it's got me going 8-5 (plus a little extra). Trying to catch up and get on a regular schedule with my contract obligations as well as not falling behind my WoW responsibilities (go Hounds).

the wife and I watched the golden globes last night. The Steve Carrell and House acceptance speeches were funny. Surprised about the best actress in a comedy. If I were a script writer, the next movie would clearly be a gay pirate movie. Could you imagine how much money that would bring in?

....

Oh wait, Pirates 2 is coming out this year, never mind.

Not much else is going on, the DnD campaign is going along great, I actually contributed to unmasking a major plot point (which I don't usually do, I usually let those that like to talk go ahead and do so). Zero poker for the past 2 weeks (except for last saturday at my dads, but that reallly isn't poker).

On that topic, how do you respond to a very close relative that says to you "Please figure out what you want of mine, I need to complete my will by next week." I'm lucky I didn't have a nervous breakdown right there. That man has aged about 20-30 years in the past 3 weeks. It's tough, hopefully we'll be able to see a baseball game together in the spring. If I believed in God, that's what I would ask for.

The Blue Glove Group

First lemme say, the blue wandy thing >>> the flashy thing from MIB.

So I'm into to disk three and watching Ariel. The blue gloved guys appear to be awesome. This episode is pretty sweet. I'm a fan of Jayne. That's probably why the episode I liked the best off disk two was Jaynestown. A close second was the Mrs. Robertson episode. Out of Gas was kinda bleh. Not really a fan of the Sheppard.

It's moving up the list and I'm chain smoking them like I did with DS9 when I first got it.

btw - how old is Kaylee? I thought that she might be younger but that thought was soiled by out of gas. :(

Changin' it up

So I am starting a new job on Monday. I am leaving C1 Media (vSocial), today is my last day. They are a great startup company, unforunately I've had my fill of the entrepreneur type job. Each of these jobs have soo much more potential, however, it takes a lot more effort getting there and unfortunately I was on the remedial end of it. I wish them the best and will continue to support their effort and hope that they succeed, they have a great product.

I start at Avnet on Monday. I will be a Customer Support Rep. This means that I will work with a team to assist the Sales Team so that they can be as prepared as possible for interacting with potential clients. I will also be responsible for current customers and keeping them happy. It's a corporate job, with what I perceive as better job security, although those that like to argue with me will do so in that regard. They have paid time off and benefits. They have "month end" type busy times, but it won't be like the previous two jobs that I worked at where I am expected to work outside of the normal work hours. Don't get me wrong, I am all for putting forth 110%, it's just that now it may be time for some corporate office type situation. On the downside, I now have to dress business casual....ehh whatever.

Also, I reupped my contract with for the Game Design company. I really do enjoy the work that I do there and the people that I work with (especially a certain supervisor and a certain brand manager), they keep it interesting and make sure that all the behind the scenes stuff is taken care of so there is a game for me to design. Sometimes I get discouraged by some of the feedback from our customers. I have let it get me down in the past and have even been given the advice that I should stay away from the publics' eye. I can't do that, it's not that I care more about the game than the person that gave me that advice, I just feel it's my duty to put my thoughts and beliefs out there for the customers to know and hopefully help them understand where I'm coming from.

It's all good...

Hockey on New Years

This is the new football stadium being built next to the hockey rink. It looks rather big and the shopping area around looks like it's going to rock when it's done. They had a little model in the rink building, it looks like University City from Universal Studios in CA.

No...not the badass Cobra guy

So I'm sitting down to watch Bushwacked. I got the first disk from Netflix and have watched Serenity and the Train Job. So far, I'm still watching. I'm not chain smoking them like I did with DS9 or TNG, but it's intriguing nontheless. So far here is where I'm at -

Star Wars
The Next Generation
DS9
Firefly
Seaquest:DSV
Voyager

Not too bad. The first couple episodes were interesting, not sure how I feel about them giving back the shipment in the Train Job, but I guess some humanity is in store, we have to believe that they will do good in the end even though they are outlaws. I've enjoyed the dialogue, especially the line "How's business?" "None of yours." Well, they just boarded the derelict ship and this looks like it's going to end up as the token ghost episode. That might being the opinion down abit.

And Bahr...that chick is pretty hot. No matter what scene she's in, she is always well groomed and looks very nice.

Tired of whoring myself out

This is a bit of a WoW rant -

So I'm a lvl 60 Tauren Warrior on Dunemaul. I have been for about 3-4 months now. I'm experienced in all the <20 man instances. I have 300 mining (including Dark Iron) and 250+ enchanting. I'm attuned and have most keys (don't have UBRS). I'm a fairly experienced gamer, I know the ins and outs of my class pretty well...

....so the hell can't I get into a freaking high level raiding guild? This is freaking bullshit. So because my class is one of the most popular out there, my end game suffers because I'm being shunned based on my class. I've applied to several guilds and each and everyone one of them is "sorry, we aren't recruiting warriors."

This is what is pissing me off about this game. This is my first MMORPG and I've heard nothing but great things and how it has improved from previous games, but this still blows. I have to try and whore myself out to these pretentious/holier than though kids who think they hold the world balance in their freaking mouse.

I'm very close to just saying screw it all. Unfortunately, this debacle is holding Marnie up as well. She wants to play with me and that means us being in the same guild. She helped start a guild and when the majority of the main players hit 60 there was a decision to merge with this other guild. However, for some reason we still had to submit our applications. Yep, I'm still being given the cold shoulder, they invited Marnie in, but I still haven't gotten a response.

It's bullshit, I don't need this hassle.

Plugging the hole in the dyke

I played some casino poker over the weekend. I wanted to try out my new ipod that my loving wife got me for christmas. I thought that part of my problems in the live game was that I would let certain players get to me and hold a grudge because they would say something and put me off my game. After the weekend I end about down my original buyin for the 3/6 game ($100)...that is after paying a buddy the money i owed him.

Anyway, I have some leaks that I still need to fill -

1 - Overplaying AKs -
I had some issues with overplaying this hand when the board flopped skittles. I lost two big bets on this hand.

2 - Calling reflop raises with pocket pairs of 6s or less -
Again, somehow I thought that my 44 was good when there were two over cards on the board.

I hope to go more into this soon, but I'm going to start a separate blog just for poker, hopefully hosted at Keller's place

1st Christmas Present

I got notice today of my first christmas present from Marnie. She got a 3 month trial of Netflix (2 at a time). I'm excited, here is my queue for the first 19 to roll off the line (in order)

Godfather
Godfather II
Godfather III
Sin City
The Island
Roll Bounce
Hitch
Anchorman
Goodfellas
The Color of Money
Wall Street
8 Men Out
Reign of Fire
Deep Impact
THX 1138
Firefly disk 1-4

Some of these I've seen but we don't own, others I've never seen...like the Godfather. At this, I'm told, I will become a man....or something.

Alread vs. Girard

errr... I mean Ten vs. Mia this weekend...in Miami. The dolphins are somethig like 7-7 and they aren't even trying to win. There is money on the line, if I lose I'll be about even with the Bank and Trust. If I win, Joe had better be sitting at the 4/8 to make sure he can pay me. ;)

btw - if I have to hear Sean Salsibury talk about Matt Leinhart to the Titans one more time, it'll be like the 5th time. :( "Well, norm chow blah blah blah, McNair for two more years than Matt takes over blah blah blah. They might even trade up to make sure they get him blah blah blah." Joe better hope they dont' trade the Allpro or else they'll really be screwed.

Going to see some puck

Yay, I'm going to catch a Coyote game tomorrow night. They are playing the Blues. I haven't been to a professional hockey game yet, the closest I came was going to a Great Falls Americans game like 9 years ago. This should be fun, maybe I'll be able to give Tom shit on Wed.

Updated Links ------------------------------->

I updated the links in my blogroll. There was a time that I was petty and because some people didn't link to me. That time has passed and I enjoy these peoples blogs and I hate having to click on other peoples links to read their blogs.

ooooo...pretty colors.

My Pops

Good news, he's been home for about a week or so now. He gets the chest tube removed on Thursday. They are going to see how he does without it. He has a nurse that comes out every other day to check on him. Since he hasn't taken a sick day in about 40 years, he's officially on sick leave until June and that's when he retires. I feel bad for him because he's basically confined to the house for awhile, he has to make sure not to catch a cold or anything like that or it could get worse.

So the good news is he's home and the tube comes out. They aren't going to do surgery unless they absolutely have to. He is to stay near a phone at all times in case the other lung decides to give.

My dad got old like overnight. :(

They Forgot An Element!!

So sometimes when one of your favorite movies is on TV you find yourself flipping the channels and just stopping and watching it. You know it's going to be cut up but it's one of your favorites and you find yourself watching it. Even though the DVD is not more than 6 ft away.

There I was, the greatest movie of all time was on TV and as I watched, waiting for possibly the best scene in the movie, Bruce Willis gets up, has his phone conversation, tells the cat that it'll rot his brain and then he gets into his car.

Wha wha what!!!???!?!??!!1

The cut the whole "gimme da cash" scene. Blasphemy!!!

Today's Lesson

So in my new job, I get to interact with bands on a regular basis. I am behind in the times because I mostly listen to top40 or 90s stations. So I get to learn new/hip terms for types of music. Today's term is -

Emo

definition from urbandictionary.com -
A group of white, mostly middle-class well-off kids who find imperfections in there life and create a ridiculous, depressing melodrama around each one. They often take anti-depressants, even though the majority don't need them. They need to wake up and deal with life like everyone else instead of wallowing in their imaginary quagmire of torment.

Also - Like a Goth, only much less dark and much more Harry Potter.

That is all for today's lesson, next time we get to learn what the term psychobilly means.

...bunch of whiny brats.

My Dad

My dad is in the hospital. He has emphysema. He has smoked for a long time, was in vietnam, is "old", and works in the valley at the airport. Any one of those could have contributed to it. He has some growth and entangling of the ganglia in his lung. Unfortunately, he has a bigger one in the lung that didn't collapse on friday.

This is my dad....

This guy has been shot, has a purple heart, has been a state trooper for more than 35 years, fought in Vietnam. He thought "a fairly serious disease which I will not disclose here" was like a common cold and that he would be over it shortly, even though there is no cure.

It was very tough to see my father lying in the hospital bed, outside of my wife, probably the toughest person seeing lying in a hospital bed. I don't know how to react. My father and I have been close, but we rarely talk, it's just the way we are. Our wives constantly try to get us to call one another, but we never have anything to chat about over the phone unless it's sports and that runs out quickly.

Hopefully we'll hear positive news today from the CT dr and surgeon. He has what is called Bullous Lung Disease.

It's time to go again soon. Anyone who has gone with me, knows what I'm talking about.

New J-O-B

So today is the 2nd day of my new job. I work for C1 media based in Tempe Arizona. It's a great job, I'm doing administrative work and the dress code is fairly liberal. It's a fun daily job and it's good to be back in a stable office environment. Working from home is rough when you lack discipline. So...yea...new job etc. I'm staying with Decipher for right now, hopefully I can get my contract negotiated and renewed for 2006.

20 piece nuggets and a strawberry shake

Riiiight

So we start by the three of us heading out to the casino. Brad, me and clark all get ready for a night of some gambling, Brad wants to head to RTO afterwards to hang with Pup. Brad throws $100 on blackjack. He's down to the felt as I walk over, he get 9/2. I'm like "if you had more money, you could double." As he's reaching for his wallet (evidently you can lay money on blackjack mid hand unlike poker) and the dealer pitches out a face card, we both scowl at him and brad collects his chips. Then proceeds to go all the way up to 300. Brad's already up, my table just got called so I sit at $4/8. I can sum up my $150 in 4 hands.

A/face, board comes 2/A/x. I bet, 1 caller. Turn = X, I bet, same caller. River = 7, I bet, I caller. Yep, you guessed it, the bastard, two off from the button, had 2/7off. "that's my lucky hand!" I frown and mutter something about "that being poker".

4 hands later, A/face again. Board comes 77A. I bet, same caller. Turn=2. Yep, you guessed it, this fucker just pissed me off to no end. I'm fuming, but wait, it doesn't get better.

Later, A/J, board comes A/J/x. I bet, 1 caller (different guy). This hand wasn't raised preflop mind you. Turn is the J. I check, he bets, I raise, he calls. River=x. I bet, he raises, I call. He's got the AA. The case freaking Aces. To Mr. Powers that says "you shouldn't always assume that they have the nut hand," I say...something mean. :(

Final hand, A/Q, no preflop raise...whatever. Basically the same thing happens, an Ace comes and someone has AA. I'm fuming.

I go and see if brad's ready to go. He cashes out at 6/12...up...oh...about $800 or so. He's like...uhh...boobies. I'm like, obviously, who am I to say no to a strip club. Clark's out, for some reason, even though Brad was basically treating.

Yadda, yadda, strip club. Brad almost pulls a Marcus and tries and tells me that this stripper has something for him.

We get out of there at about 2:30, make it to McDonalds for some food. We roll up to the drive through, I'm tired and B-rad is a bit tipsy. I'm like "whatcha want". That's right you guessed it..."20 piece nuggets and a strawberry shake." There was nothing I could do, it was late and I started laughing hysterically. The window person thought we were crazy. Thank goodness for the shower to get the smell of smoke and stripper off the body before I head to bed. All in all, it was an excellent night and I'm beat.

Tip of the Day: Don't have porn running on the video ipod when you roll up to the drive through window. It may get you some strange looks.

g'night folks

Writer's Look here

Writing Contest for Bioware

From those that are in the know, this is very exciting so I am passing it on to my friends who are writers. I've known quite a few, hopefully they still read this blog.
